Vijay Eswaran

Vijay Eswaran, Executive Chairman, QI Group of Companies, is not just a successful entrepreneur, who founded a multimillion dollar global conglomerate, but also a bestselling author and a well known speaker.
The QI group, co-founded by Mr.Eswaran in 1998 is an e-commerce based conglomerate with businesses diversified into retail, travel and leisure, telecommunications, watches and luxury products, wellness, training and education, technology and corporate investments.
Mr.Eswaran completed his higher education in leading universities in UK and the USA and has an impressive track record of working for top rung companies including IBM, in very responsible positions in the US, Europe, Australia and Canada, before returning to Asia in the early 90s, when he decided to turn entrepreneur. His unique management methodologies and a consensus-driven approach to decision making at all levels has helped this unique multicultural organisation, achieve spectacular growth rates in a very short period. The ten year old QI group has regional offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia and a presence in nearly 30 countries through a wide range of subsidiary companies.
A highly respected motivational speaker, Mr.Eswaran lectures around the world on a variety of subjects ranging from spirituality to business. He has spoken at leading universities, management and business leadership forums. Some key highlights have been as a speaker at the Commonwealth Business Forum of the CHOGM 2007 and 2009 in Uganda and Trinidad & Tobago respectively, a panelist at the 6th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, the global Indian Diaspora meet in Jan 2008, at the invitation of the government of India and a panellist at the World Economic Forum's East Asia Summit in Vietnam.
Mr. Eswaran has also penned the highly successful In the Sphere of Silence that encapsulates the core of the philosophy he lives his life by. A highly acclaimed book worldwide, hailed by accomplished international authors, the book stands for what the author passionately believes in and promotes. The book has also been translated into German, Dutch, Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese and Farsi.
His second book, In The Thinking Zone is a collection of his thoughts and reflections through a series of quotations aimed at helping readers adopt a healthy attitude in dealing with day-today situations. A publisher's edition of his third book 18 Stepping Stones was launched in June 2010 in Malaysia in limited edition. Mr. Eswaran is also a regular columnist with the newspapers in Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
In addition to building a multinational corporation, Vijay Eswaran has also established the RYTHM Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the QI group that is involved in philanthropic activities around the world. In Malaysia he has established the Vijayaratnam Foundation in his Father’s honour that helps provide scholarships to needy but deserving students.
In late 2006, he was conferred with the prestigious title of Knight Commander of The Most of The Crown of Pahang, Honorary Distinguished Order Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) by His Royal Highness The Sultan of Pahang, Malaysia in recognition of his contribution to the economic growth of the State of Pahang. This investiture carries the honorific title Dato’. In Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, he is referred to as Dato’ Vijay Eswaran.
A global citizen, Mr.Eswaran travels extensively around the world with his wife and lives in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Sydney and London. |
