On 17 February, Vijay took the Indian business community by storm as he delivered the inaugural address at the Madras Management Association’s annual convention on the theme – Global Leardership: India can do it!
At a gathering of around 1,000 industry professionals, top management, the media and academics, Vijay spoke about India’s inherent potential to be a global leader and how Indians must be proud of who they are before wanting to go global. Quoting from Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore, he had the audience spellbound for 45 minutes as he finished with a powerful closing line – “This is India’s millenium. This is India and I am Indian!” The standing ovation that followed was unbelievable.
The minute he stepped off the stage, the overwhelmed crowd filled with Indian businessmen rushed to shake his hand and tell him what a powerful speech it was and how inspired they were by it. While thanking Vijay, the MC pulled out a copy of SoS and read from it asking people to go get a copy of this inspiring book.
Towards the end of the convention when the vote of thanks was being given, the convention’s chairman while giving a perfunctory thanks to the other speakers, spoke in detail about Vijay’s speech and how relevant and important it was and how lucky they were to have had a chance to hear him.
Congratulations to Vijay for once again sweeping his audience off their feet!
