Young minds from the premier Multimedia University (MMU) in Malaysia sat enthralled for 3 hours at the inaugural session of the ‘Aruna’ Seminar Series, a youth empowerment programme. The speaker, Dato’ Vijay Eswaran took off his jacket, rolled up his sleeves and got off the stage to walk through the aisles and interact with the students on a one-on-one level. Through a series of interesting videos, anecdotes from his own life and popular stories, he illustrated the need to be passionate about whatever one is doing in life, be it work or otherwise.
He pointed out that nothing is guaranteed in life and hence we must strive to live each day as though it were our last. Hence, its important to shake off our metaphorical slumber and awaken to a whole new world of possibilities and arise to every opportunity available. He reiterated the importance of the basic values of Truth, Respect, Courage, Commitment and Integrity and why it was important to ‘Walk the Talk’ in order to earn respect and make a mark in the world.
The students came up with some very interesting and insightful questions for Dato’ Vijay and he handled them all with his customary charm and aplomb.
The best questions earned some of the lucky students a copy of Dato’ Vijay’s best selling book – In the Sphere of Silence. All participants also received a copy of Dato’s poster on the 18 Step A Plan to life which he personally signed for them at the end of the seminar.
